SUMMARY
TAOS, New Mexico—Gail Russell, a Taos-based photographer, artist, and designer has her current photo art exhibition, “The Secret Life of Plants and Other Adventures,” at the Farmhouse Café and Bakery in El Prado, NM. The show is running through August 31, 2021.
Enjoy a breathtaking collection of images on paper and canvas featuring Russell’s botanical studies, her keen eye capturing the delicate and exotic beauty of peonies, magnolias, orchids, roses, irises, hibiscuses, and more.
The 1973 book, The Secret Life of Plants, by Christopher Bird and Peter Tompkins served as her inspiration. According to Russell, the book “revealed a whole new world to me: an account of the mystical, emotional and spiritual relations between plants and humankind,” which she has flawlessly captured in this new exhibition.
Visitors will also be treated to a preview of Russell’s upcoming book, Spirit in Form, featuring poetry and images of the human form in nature and other places. Works from 1968-2002. The book is due out in late September 2021.
Russell has been named a Taos Living Master for her photography and is honored as one of the Remarkable Women of Taos.
